Precinct 2 is home to 55 well-maintained parks and public spaces, each designed to encourage outdoor activity, recreation, and community gathering. In 2024 alone, we welcomed over 1.4 million visitors to our parks and more than 73,000 to our community centers. From daily walks to family picnics, from structured activities to self-guided fitness, our parks and recreation offerings are more than fun — they’re vital to public health and well-being.

Community Centers

Precinct 2 maintains and operates 10 community centers throughout Harris County. These centers give our residents a place to gather for educational seminars, fitness classes, group activities, and social support. We have special events aimed at people of all ages and offer engaging activities designed to keep our youth and seniors active in the community.

Easter Egg Hunts

Hop on over to our Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Take pictures with the Easter Bunny, search for Easter eggs, and potentially win amazing prizes!
 
  • When: Saturday before Easter weekend. The egg hunt kicks off at 10:00 AM sharp!
  • Where: At two Precinct 2 park locations (one in the north zone, one in the south zone)
  • Who: Kids 10 & under

Movies in the Park

Grab your blankets, bring the family, and join us for a free movie in the park! Enjoy free popcorn (while supplies last). Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair and arrive early to grab a spot!
 
  • When: Saturday summer events, once per month. The movie will start around sunset.
  • Where: At various park locations throughout Precinct 2

Reel in the Fun Children’s Fishing Derby

Get ready to cast your line and make some unforgettable memories at our Annual Reel in the Fun Children's Fishing Derby! This exciting family-friendly event is the perfect opportunity for young anglers to enjoy the great outdoors and experience the thrill of the catch. The fishing pond at Challenger 7 Memorial Park will be fully stocked with Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, and Catfish, ready and waiting for a fun day of fishing and friendly competition. Bring your fishing poles, tackle, and enthusiasm for a day full of smiles, surprises, and community spirit. Whether you're a seasoned pro or casting for the first time, this event is all about having fun and making great memories with family and friends.
 
  • When: 2nd Saturday in September
  • Where: Challenger 7 Memorial Park

Family Campout

Bring the whole family out for a fun-filled weekend at our Annual Family Campout at Challenger 7 Memorial Park! Spend the night under the stars and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities designed for all ages, including archery and fishing. This event is perfect for families looking to connect with nature, learn new skills, and create lasting memories together. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or new to the outdoors, join us for a night of adventure, laughter, and family fun! Please note that campers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and all participants are responsible for bringing their own camping gear and food. Limited camping gear is available for check out on first come basis during check-in.
 
  • When: 1st weekend in October
  • Where: Challenger 7 Memorial Park

Santa’s Spectacular Chill & Thrill in the Park

Celebrate the magic of the season at Santa’s Spectacular Chill & Thrill! Bring your family and friends to capture joyful moments with Santa himself, perfect for holiday memories and festive photos. While you enjoy the cheerful atmosphere, cozy up with a warm cup of hot chocolate and freshly popped popcorn, available while supplies last.

  • When: 3rd Saturday in December
  • Where: Rotates between north and south zones
