In March, each group may book four trips that will take place from April through September. In September, each group will book four trips taking place from October through March. Groups are allowed to travel 150 miles from Harris County. Each trip may last a total of 9 hours, from pick up time to drop off time. One trip for each group may consist of an overnight trip. The overnight trip must stay within a 200 mile radius of Harris County.
The order that groups are allowed to pick trips is determined by a random drawing in February. Groups are entered into the random drawing by completing the Senior Group Registration Form and returning it by the registration deadline. The booking order number assigned to each group is called their lotto number. Two weeks before booking trips group leaders will receive a card in the mail indicating their lotto number (order or rank for booking) and what day they will be called to book their trips. If a group leader is no available on their assigned booking date, they may call our office and give us the name and phone number of an alternate contact person. After booking their trips, group leaders will need to call the Transportation office 10-14 days prior to their date to confirm their trip information (pick up location, time, itinerary and destination). It is the responsibility of the group leader to have directions for the driver on how to arrive at their destination. Additional questions about senior trips and booking procedures may be answered by Area Coordinator or the Transportation staff.
