Our nursing home outreach began in 1983 with 12 nursing
homes. Today it serves 22 nursing homes with over 2,800
residents. The Nursing Home Program is designed to improve
the quality of life for the residents in long-term care
facilities by bringing the community into the nursing homes.
We offer domino tournaments, Nursing Home Olympics, day trips, a variety of parties, and an annual pageant. Staff also makes special visits bed-confined residents. In addition, we provide support to a networking organization, the East Harris County Activity Professional Association, which meets monthly on various aspects of geriatrics and long-term care. At these meetings activity directors and social workers are able to earn continuing education units required by the State of Texas. |
